Solitary yurt

Our yurt is now available to provide simple accommodation for solitary practice retreats. The yurt is pitched on our land on the south-sloping field of the nut orchard, about 300m from the house. It is equipped with all the basic things you need for a simple stay, including a compost toilet nearby, a standpipe for water, a gas stove for cooking, and a wood stove for heating when needed. There is no electricity, no wifi and no car access (300m walk from the car park)! Normally your only companions will be passing deer.

The yurt is intended for people who wish to stay in economical and simple accommodation while they concentrate on meditation or other solitary practice. Like our annexe, which is also available for solitaries, it is not holiday accommodation. Our basic charge for use of the yurt is £15 per person per night. Reductions of this rate can be negotiated for people staying for longer retreats of more than a week. If you are staying longer than a week we may also be able to negotiate showers and food deliveries.

Please contact us to check that the yurt is free for the dates you want, before booking on our costs and booking page. Also do get in touch if you need any further information.

Review from Barry: ‘I stayed in the yurt for 3 days and had a really lovely time. The yurt provided everything I needed to have an experience that was simple yet comfortable, with a camp bed,  cooking  stove and equipment, camping chair and lighting. Outside there was a tap with fresh water and a compost toilet nearby. The yurt is situated in a large field, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and is completely secluded from any roads or houses. I felt very embedded in that setting, although I did take the opportunity to go for a couple of walks, as well as a swim in the river.  I’d highly recommend it to anyone seeking a bit of solitude in beautiful surroundings and a reset!’
